Hey i found a deal on an HKS EVC-S but i don't know much about them.

I would like to hear some feedback or experiences that any of you may have encountered with this product.

HKS boost controller should be pretty legit, I trust pretty much anything made by them although I have no experience with this unit.

DO IT HKS! No other rerason to doubt it. As long as you install it properly you should be good. Oh probably check Evolutionm or Iwsti for reviews or any other site you might know. I have the hks type2 turbo timer and couldn't be happier it has 7 other functions beside the turbo timer.
Let us know how it works out.

 

Good unit, however it is overkill and not needed for your setup. It works well for correcting spikey and creeping boost curves (to an extent ). Id spend the $ elsewhere.

 

when does it become useful to have a boost controller?

 

Whenever you are running high boost and need or want to run 2 maps.
I personally use Greddy Profec B-spec 2 and happy with it. Also got lucky and won it on ebay for $250 brand new instead of paying $400+ like most places want or wanted for it when i was on the market.
