Question Weird noise when close to REV Limit, Boost S/C

Hi, here i a supid question. I just install my Supercharger about a month now, all works ok but there is a noise that i have never heard before. Right before i get to red line on 1st & 2nd i hesr a very strange noise coming from the driver side engine bay of the car, i check to ses if there was something lose but no, it will not doit if i jusr roll out, the car will go up close to the rev limit at about 6 to 7psi and then starts the noise and i can feel it on the car, i replaced the Bosch bypass valve with a new Forge Hybrid thinking that was the OEM valve not holding presure to good thats how is sound to me at first but it will do the same with the new valve (there was a performance improvment with the new hybrid valve) . Is there some one had the same problem after boost your tC. Some ideas please.

It would help if you had a video with how it sounds. I don't know if your supercharger is new or used. But the only noise I've heard from my supercharger unit at boost/high rpms was like a woosh noise... it started making this noise 50k miles which is about the time the s/c unit will need a rebuild. If your hearing the same sound that I dealt with, it's most likely the impeller seal is leaking and is blowing oil into your intake. Check the intake hose from the s/c unit to the throttle body for oil.

The S/C is NEW (removed from a floor model) the intake hose from the s/c to the throttle body intake hose was clean. maybe the clutch or clutch bearing??

Agreed, you said you changed out the bpv so does it sound like air releasing. If you had a modified intake I would suggest that because it sounds a little like a bov coming out of the open filter. Do you have a boost gauge installed? I'd check for vacuum leaks since you say this is only under high boost. If it wasn't pin pointed to the drivers side I'd also suspect the belt slipping. Really need a vid/more info to help.

Lightbulb Video clip!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok i did my best & try 4 times and this is the best video out of 4, u will think that is the rev limit but the noise comes just before the rev limit, u can confuse the 2 sounds in the video. I was driving & filming :-)
By the way, it did the same noise with the Bosch 102 & the Forge, i'am 100% stock(no aftermarket intake or exhaust) just the Supercharger & Unichip because i can't find a reflashed ecu i whent with a piggyback controller.

well i didnt see you describe the noise. is it a grinding noise or a whining noise or what? did you check your belts for excessive wear? you have to give us more to go off of.

It is hard to tell from the video but it kind of sounds like the detonation I was getting on mine at redline (max boost). I would say it kind of sound like a slinging/pinging sound, not a hard knock. You are using a unichip so it may be a bad tune, do you have any way of measuring the AFR?

I am no expert but i think you need to get a reading up load, but mid 13 is too lean under boost. I was running into detonation in Arizona weather at high 12s low 13s.

I know, i was just showing that i was stable at IDLE, at load i think i see 11's. I will go out tonight and make a video with the new map & firmware.

OK just went for a drive and let me tell u that the upgrade on the map & firmware make a BIG improvment on the car it pulls a lot better, the car rev limit on 4th at 6530 rpm and 5th was at 116mph and looking for more ( COOPS :-) when my radar detector start beepeing....... but there was a lot mor power to go. About my A/F ratio my gauge just go down to 12 at wot, No detonations or missfire, no problems at all just that stupid nois don't go, maybe from my clutch at hi boost because i don't think the is comming from the supercharger. If any ideas just hit me Thanks

Might be a bad install, stress on shaft. Might try to reinstall the SC follow the bolt tightening procedure in the install manual. I am just tossing things out there now.
