th e07-08 has a revised shaft, but to make a 06 work on a 08 all u gotta do is use your factory airbox instead of the o6 trd airbox, then then go to the dealer and pay 150 to get your ecu flashed because the 07-08 ecu gets flahs via their computer and not the flash that comes with tthe trd kit

^Sorta correct. The years are specific as far as the tune and MAF design.

To expand, the shaft design and shaft housing, brackets, and pulley configuration are the obvious differences.
I have the 07-up unit installed by the dealer on my 06 tC with the 06 MAF, intake pipe, tune, oil pan/lines, etc.

Its not really a conversion kit that is available. I believe it is just the 07 kit. Others have commented that they have the 07 SC unit with 06 brackets (dual idler pulleys). My assumption is (and I could be wrong) that the brackets mount to the motor in the same spots so the actual unit can be installed with either version. The difference is in the bracket height and attached pulleys. The 07 brackets position the SC higher and use a single idler pulley. My guess is that when my new SC was installed they just removed it at the point where the brackets mount to the motor rather than where they mount to the SC, so I got the 07 brackets.
Additionally, I actually saw the car in the bay with my old 06 SC and a few other random parts next to the new box the new 07 SC came in. It was the exact same box that I received the 06 SC in from Sparks Toyota so I know they are installing the warranty from a full kit and not just a single warrantied part. My point is, it might be up to the installing mechanic's discretion as to what they use outta what they have.

There are people, myself included, who have shown that it is possible. Like I said, the dealer did mine so I can't say for sure how its done.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of the old parts and I'm the type who keeps all the stock stuff just in case, so I have nothing to sell. Sorry.

A piggyback will work fine. In fact it will most likely, with proper tuning, yield better results. The TRD flash is way conservative and quite rich.
I'm using the TRD tune and still running rich even with a CAI and a Forge007 venting atmospherically. Eventually I will go back to the 9.5lb pulley and retune on a piggyback.

but dont you dare try driving the car without anyform of a tune... plenty have tried this with the s/c and blown their motor just trying to drive to the dealer 10 miles away to get their flash

all correct other than the "shaft design" part, no difference there, just a prettier new shaft cover. It doesn't matter much about the shaft as the benefit of the 07 is a better pulley design that looks like it puts less stress on the shaft/bearings.

Op look up a thread by b52dunn about this, i think he goes into more details about the actual install of an 07 s/c on an 06 t/c, but should work vice versa.
