Default this is why nitrous oxide has a bad reputation

and this is more than enough reason for me to have absolutely no interest in ever adding it to any car i'll ever own or drive.

Incorrect, you are taking a rather biased position.

Nitrous can be installed and ran correctly to prevent detonation. There are many variables when it comes to nitrous, just like there is when there comes to turbo setups. You don't just slap something on and drive around with it. Nitrous solenoids get stuck open, fuel solenoids don't open, there are a lot of variables and depending on the quality of system and how it was installed plays a major role. Everything has a limit and once you reach it, bad things do happen, it's a fact....when you increase power irresponsibly and neglect certain safety measures, inevitably, things will break and detonation will happen. I'm sure not a single one of these detonations had a wideband installed to monitor their AFR, just running nitrous like morons.

If you're going to sticky this, stick the other threads with morons running too much boost, no management, no gauges, no tune, stock injectors, homemade welded wastegates and eBay kits too, they have the same effect as nitrous installed improperly.

there can be problems with all forms of forced induction, but nitrous oxide is usually the most notorious culprit.

imho the reason there are sooo many horror stories and vids dealing with n2o is the simple fact that nitrous is cheap (short run) and easy to get. so there for there will be a ton of peeps trying it out versus other forms of forced induction. also because its cheap your going to have cheap peeps trying to run it without taking the proper precautions or going that extra mile to spend more on a set of gauges/parts. There are some conditions that you couldn't avoid and with nitrous its unforgiving cause there isn't really any lag time for you to react, thats where proper safety comes into play. By using devices that will automatically shut things down that can react much faster than you can you will be a happy camper with n2o.

This is why I'll only be running nitrous through a chiller bar on my intercooler.

Also, I thought this was why nitrous had a bad reputation:
