Default why no s/c cams?

I know ripp mods is making cams for the s/c:

http://www.rippmods.com/products/pro...&productId=354

But why is nobody making new cams that are cut just for a s/c? The ripp ones are not new and are $800 .....thats a price to pay for a used part that was tweaked.

The question is .....why is nobody else building these? Its proven that you get a nice hp increase w/o a timing change ....and prob more hp w/ a timing change ....why is nobody jumping on being the first and only to make new cams?

From what I have heard, companies have found little benefit to it. Especially when dealing with VVT-i.

I would like to see some high lift cams for it, but I am sure that the design is in progress somewhere. Whether there will be a huge benefit remains to be seen. Regrinds are just not worth the time IMO.

^ the cost will also be a factor in if its worth it. Do you know someone is working on this or are you guessing someone is (cause you said someone might be designing one now)?

you can control the VVT-i with the cam-con controller

but from running a search on the cam-con, boosted people see no gain from it. my buddy had on on his PE supercharged xB and he had very little gains for what he paid for it.

its best for NA motors

search Cam-Con and look towards the older threads

I faintly remember hearing that some companies were looking into it, but it has been quite a while back and I cant say whether it went any further. Seemed like someone was contacting some companies to see if they would do it. But I really have no idea what is really in the works or what is just a maybe.

Stripper Motors, Dezod, and other companies were supposedly R&D. But nothing came out.

do you know the grind that will benefit what u want? Cause if not, then there's R&D and if theres R&D, then money will start to flow out.

I would have to do some major research on how much of a lobe I would want, and possibly what lift and rocker ratio. I understand mass production requires a lot of R&D, but by getting the specs on the Tc's stock cams, and figuring out what happens when the lobe and lift are changed, the math can be done based upon what type of setup you want.

good luck trying to find the stock specs. I once asked and no one could help me. I asked Ripp mods and they wouldn't help me at all.

You can only do so much with a regrind. You are limited on lift and duration by how much you can monkey around with the material you have. I would guess that only minimal increases would be possible. If I spend the dough on some cams, I want new cams ground to the spec needed, not reworked cams.

Agree with you on that one engifineer.

I've also noticed how difficult (impossible) it is to find the specs on the cams.

They made that much? 20-30hp? If it really does give 20hp, 800 is not bad

Nobody knows if it was the tune that made that.
