WORLD Racing 2009 off season
Hey everyone! Just want to introduce myself, my name is Ty Cooley. I am the crew chief of the WORLD Racing Time Attack SCION tC. I wanted to create this thread and give the scionlife community a little inside information into the WORLD Racing off season and what we are up to with our Time Attack program for 2009. As of right now we are hard at work, recreating our FWD Unlimited tC for 2009 Redline Time Attack & Super Street Lap Battle competition. The car is being reworked top to bottom, front to back, inside and out. We will be staying with our proven horsepower monster the bullseye power turbocharged 2AZ-FE(tC/xB2 engine) that creates well over 700whp/700wtq. Our first order of business with the build for 09 is looking into the transmission department because we just have been out powering the factory transaxle with the clutch locking down all of the power that we researched and developed in the 07 & 08 season. With the level of competition in Time Attack raising every year and lap times getting faster and faster we needed to find a way of keeping up with the rest and being on top. So we looked to Xtrac, one of the leaders in sequentially shifted gearboxes. They offer a FWD gearbox which we will be customizing to fit into our tC. The body work on the car is taking a full 180 as we stripped the car of the round over fenders. We also looked at putting the racecar on a big diet. All of the guys here at the race facility are cutting away any unnecessary material and to stiffen the chassis we are fabricating in lighter weight chromoly tubes. Anyways there is a small brief summary of what we have been up to here at WORLD motorsports WEST in the off season with our Time Attack FWD SCION tC. I will post another update in a few days as our work keeps progressing and we keep working later and later into the night. We are trying to meet our deadline of turning the wheels and testing this car mid to end of march and meet our goals of being at the first Redline Time Attack event March 28-29th @ Buttonwillow Raceway (Buttonwillow, CA). The AWD tC is moving forward we are just focusing on the fwd car right now so it is ready to defend the fwd title and break some more records. We are trying to set a realistic goal of mid summer for the AWD car to be out.
