We have met Tim three-four times, raced him each time...the first couple of times he beat us...we have those videos as well.

If you know ANYONE with an STi comparable mods to him, please give us a date, place, and time...we'll be more than happy to race it, you know, so you can make sure it's "full throttle." Or like ScionDad suggested, come see us in action at the track or at our shop, Tim would probably let you ride with him during our next race.

From what was posted, the runs were all taken from a roll. I know for a fact that the STI is slow from a roll because I've owned a 2005 STI. The Subaru is a great car, don't get me wrong, but it's not built to do races from a roll. The car was designed as a rally car that kicks butt in other aspects.

The compression ratio of the STI's engine block is lower than that of the Scion TC enabling it to run at a higher PSI. Another factor in the race is the gear ratios of the STI. They are very short. Again, the STI is by no means slow, but you have to place the car in it's element....rally...a tight road race...

Still in denial?

The STI will take the tC off the line hands down on street tires. STI has more than twice as much traction.

The STI also has more than twice as much reciprocating mass (drive shaft, 2 axles, 4 wheels + tires, etc.) This causes more resistance to acceleration. The easiest (not best) way to explain this would be: go to the bowling alley and through an 8 lb. + 16 lb. ball with all your might. Same "horsepower" exerted which goes faster. The tC will smoke the STI on top end acceleration; which is what they were doing.

The reason the wrx did not sound as load is because the camera was in the car. This is real easy to test. Sit inside your car and rev. Then put your ear to the tip and have someone else rev. (use paint thinner to wash up when done)

The more I teach you the dummer i get.

Fantastic Kenny ; Keep Schoolin Em ; Video's with WTF? facial expressions would be even better

Exactly, and a real race is from a dig not a roll

You can have all the HP in the world, but if you can't get it to the ground then you got nothing

Video explanation:

This is the main thing that the sti is good at (all stock except for no muffler).

In my car:

http://videos.streetfire.net/search/...1ED414A561.htm

This is why some people may think stis are not really fast from a roll. The white sti is stg2 and I am stock should be about a 40hp diff. however I shift faster than he does so its a close race. Shifting fast is a requirement to go fast in a straight line in a sti due to the very short gears until you hit fifth(the gearing is nice for corners though). In my stock sti I was able to walk away from ss camaros and hang with c4 corvettes from highway rolls(until the vettes got into the 140+ ranges). Too me that's pretty quick for a car.

Same cars except in taller gears here you see the power difference:

The scion is just really fast from a roll it doesn't seem to hard to understand that.

Turbos do wonderful things

Enjoy

Interesting Oncoming Traffic. The minivan must be testing out a turbo too.

Good show tho. I'd be more interested with a drag strip video showing times. Shows us real potential and real data, and makes it much safer for you 2 than your "proving grounds".

Not sure if youve checked out the vids from the strip Private Tucker at www.zpiracing.net but there are multiple videos with times and #s low 12's were the end result.

There is a specific thread in this section of the site that covers everything about installing the kit yourself. Every lilltle suggestion I could have made got covered by that thread. Just search for it.

I don't even know why you guys are debating this. The STi is a real car... the Scion is a piece of junk and will always be that, speed alone doesn't make a performance car! I've seen volkswagon beetles that are faster than STi's and probly that Scion too, who cares about the straight line? And 5,000 miles down the road what car is going to be running and who's car is going to explode because they are pumping 400whp out of a stock engine? I don't care how good a engine is... nothing stock will make that much hp and last. I bet you the the suby will still be ticking at 150,000 miles.

TheUltimate............... I could think of many terms that would fit the last part of your name here but I do not often "talk" like that in public;) Certainly Sweetness is not on the list, lol!

Since you are so knowledgeable on the subject of your post would you mind taking the time to quantify your remarks with some actual data?

I did not think so,

Gooday Sir!
