Default 08+ stock subwoofer install on 07 and before

I know we have a DIY on the bazooka subwoofer for tc's from 2007 and before, and I've read some posts stating that the subwoofer that goes in the floor that comes stock on tc's 08 and above came with the RS from years prior. Does this imply that I can purchase that in floor subwoofer to install in an 07? If so, what else is required aside from that subwoofer in-floor "module"? I am essentially asking if there is a DIY on how to make this happen.

Thanks for the responses.

I would think that you should be able to make that conversion fairly easy. If the HU has a line out for a subwoofer then I'd say you're good to go.

So theoretically it should work. Has anyone actually done it? If I go through w/ this, I would probably ebay the unit. With the bazooka subwoofer (the one that sits in the trunk, not in the floor) there is supposedly a harness involved, is there anything "extra" I'd have to get for this one?

are you talking about the factory sub that sits next to the spare tire?

Yes I am talking about the factory sub that sits next to the spare in tc models 2008 and later. Since it comes stock, I haven't been able to find it on trdsparks or anything so I haven't found install guides. The diy on scionlife is for the optional sub that sits "on top" of the cargo floor for tc models 2007 and older. Googling (and I can only assume there are better googlers than I) has not produced favorable results.

In any case, although I assume that I could just purchase that 2008+ factory sub (presumably from someone who upgraded or just got rid of it), I could just put it in my 2007 and just attach some wires and be done w/ it. Just wanted to hear from someone that has done it or knows someone that has done it to make sure nothing else need be purchased and that it is really that simple.

Hope that clarifies it.

My rs3 came with the factory sub you are talking about. (even though it's an 07, I'd assume it's the same as the 08+ subs)...It just has a wiring harness run to the trunk that plugs into the sub unit. I'd assume only tC's with the sound package would come pre-wired with the plug. So I have no idea how to help ya
...but I do like the little factory baby sub.

an educated guess would be if you already had the bazooa in the trunk space. then I think it's safe to say that the wiring you need is already in place.

Alright, at the dealership now. Parts department tells me that although it is possible to install the 08 subwoofer in the 07 tc, the additional costs involved make it somewhat prohibitive. Namely, there is a wiring harness required (linking the subwoofer to the head unit) that they don't sell alone - meaning, because the subwoofer came stock on models 08-10, the wiring harness is somewhat integrated into other wires traversing the passenger side of the car. Price of this total wiring set is ~$190 at the dealership. A brief search through ebay didn't really turn up anything in regards to such a harness, so I'm assuming as of right now that the dealership may be the only way to go in terms of getting the wiring for this.

I suppose this answers it.

This shouldn't be too hard if you talk to someone who's done in car audio work. The sub gets its audio from by bridging into the front speakers (you could probably just get the audio from the rear speakers to make it easier), the sub also has it's own amp built in, so all you really have to do is tap into the audio signal and then run power to the amp, shouldn't be too bad but it'll be a lot of custom work... if you're up for it take a look in the buy/sell section, people throw these subs on there all the time and i think i've seen the wiring harness go on there too, but I think you'll still have to run your own power/audio to the amp.
