yeah but if your car is still under warrenty it should be covered. I had my dealership call the warrenty company today and confirmed that it is covered. If your car is out of warrenty def try the soldering fix.

I tried the fix today and it worked! This has been plaguing me for 3 years now! The dealer wouldn't cover this under warranty because I had an after-market alarm system put in and they were trying to blame it on that. Wanted me to remove it before they did any kind of warranty work. Apparently their techs don't know how to troubleshoot! lol

I guess I didn't realize how SMALL these solder joints are. I almost needed a magnifiying glass! Took a couple attempts, but everything is working again and I couldn't be happier.

THANKS A TON for finding this fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default 2005 hvac issue

I seem to be having the same problems as the 2007 but my car is a 2005. I have taken apart the hvac and looked for the resistor t302 however had no luck. The 2005-2006 hvac motherboards are different from the 2007. Any ideas on what I can do to fix my issue. And yes I'm pass warranty.

Sorry typing this on iPhone.

They changed the board layout in 2007, so they will indeed be different. I have not traced it quite as far back on the 05-06 yet since I didnt have a need. I could take a look at it for you if you wanted to send it off to me. Never heard of an 05 having this issue though, so it could be anything causing it.

Has anything at all been done to the car? LED swap, replacing the HVAC (replacing an 05-06 unit with an 07+ will cause issues for example).

Nope it's a standard 05 hvac. No led swap. njust think it's odd that the clock light goes out as soon as I turn my headlights on

Hmm.. .would definitely have to take a look at that one in person. Like I said, I could look at it if you sent me the unit. I dont charge if I cant fix an issue on these, and will always let you know how much it will cost before I fix and bill you.

If you are sure it is not a wiring issue, you can also usually find a used unit from car-part.com for $100 or so. Typically comes with the waterfall bezel, stereo door, etc, so you can sell that and make some money back. Beats the $500+ that a new one costs.

Also I stock the hvac units as well & offer them with or without an led swap

I have seen another 05-06 act the same way before after a customer installed it into a 2008 car, usually this does not damage it but in this case it did. It was cheaper / quicker just to replace the unit.

Too funny. This just started happening to my '07 about 3 weeks ago, right around the time we had a cold weather snap here in FL. It's been driving me crazy trying to figure out the problem...Even went so far as to check ALL my fuses. Will take out the waterfall this afternoon and give this a shot. Once again, completely awesome to be able to come here and find a fix for anything and everything.

Necro bumping this because I might have the same issue. Thanks joshuabowman for linking me to this. Cannot perform the fix since I don't have my car but my lights being turned on is causing my Gauge fuse to blow; hope this fixes the problem.

Problem comes from inside of the HVAC unit.
If the problem persis after replacing the unit. Then it's not the problem
From this thread

Make sure that when you get replacement unit. Get the year from 05 - 06
07 and up model does not work on 05-06 tC
