Looking for a 4 channel amp DIY, can anyone link me to one? I remember I bookmarked one and I can't seem to find it!
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!
i'll restate his question, because i could really use the same info.
alright, so he's got an aftermarket HU (or even the upgraded pioneer premium one). The HU has RCA outputs for the front and rear. So he is going to add a 4 channel amp. To do this you would wire up the amp as normal (power, ground, remote) and run RCA cables to the amp from the HU. Now the question comes as to what to do with the output from the amp. Should you run new speaker wire to the speakers, or what is another option?
My idea was to cut the stock speaker wires and install male/female quick connects. So you can disconnect and re-connect each channel independently, and re-connect everything if you decide to return to stock. Then run speaker wire from the amp to where you cut the stock harness, and connect each channel. That was my idea, but I'm thinking that there should be a better way.

Thanks for restating my question. How do I go about connecting the speaker wires? Do I cut the stock harness and connect the speaker wires that runs to the amp? Do I t-tap them and then run to amp? That is the part I am confused about, the rest (power, groun, remote) I got down. Just not sure about the speaker wires for the front/back.

just run new speaker wires from the amp output underneath your carpet all the way to the stereo harness in the dash and connect it the the speaker input wires on the harness. that way u don't need to cut the wires connected to the speakers.
Yep run new speaker wires.
Use this https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...&highlight=gut to learn how to take apart the interior. Might get a little tricky when you have to run them through the rubber grommets, at least for me hehe

Ok, so what's the best way to splice into them? T-taps?
I know I have to look for the FR, FL, RR, RL from the stock harness then run the new wires under the carpet to the back of the car. I will be using a dist. block for the power and grounding the 4 channel to the 2 channel amp and will be bridging the remote turn on fromt he 2 channel to the 4 channel.
Will be running 4 gauge wiring and prob 12-16 gauge for the speeaker wires. The question now is...how do you splice into them? Solder? Anyone have any pix?

I know the power wire is the only wire needed to be ran through the grommet from the front, unless you are talking about the back trunk's 3 hole grommets??
wilson go buy an aftermarket wiring harness from a place like circuit city for about $25 that will plug straight into the stock harness. it will already be labeled and color coded for the speakers and u won't have to cut or tap into the stock harness. u can use butt connectors or preferably solder with a soldering gun and cover with heat shrink wrap.

OMG you don't CUT and SPLICE anything. You hook up the amp, RCA, power, remote...then you get 4 long runs of new 16 gauge wire, run 2 sets to the doors and 2 sets to the tweeter. That's if you are running it ACTIVE with an ACTIVE CROSSOVER. Or you do it that way also if you are running it passive but biamping the crossover.
DO you know what YOU are DOING?
