Default 6-1/2" speakers in rear

I have 6-1/2" alpine type-r coax speakers to install in the back. (to replace the paper 5-1/4")

Do I need a special bracket? I ordered the one from elemental designs that said 6.5" scion tc front/rear, but it is definitely too big for the back.

I'm going to take a better look tomorrow, I just wanted to know if anyone has done this procedure, and what you had to do.

^^^ yes, that's the correct one. If Crutchfield said it works, IT WORKS! I see the same exact model that shows up when you select a tC for what fits, what works. Yeah Crutchfield doesn't lie about their stuff.

you really dont need any brackets at all. I have installed a ton of speakers in scions. What I do is get some dynamat to cover the huge hole in the back. Cut out a space just big enough to fit the magnet through it and then screw it in. You will only be able to get 3 screws in but its plenty.

I was reading the reviews on that bracket, and a scion tc customer said it didn't work for the back 6 1/2" speakers. So I'm going to just bolt it to the frame. I have lots of dynomat left so I'll do what you suggested. I heard the 6 1/2" speakers line up with the holes in the frame. Will be checking it out tonight.

Just get some mdf and a jig saw and make your own. Trace the stock speaker and mount to use as a template.

not everyone is a car audio guru, and if people sit in the back alot I don't want to have to turn up the volume so much in the front. Just cause you don't need them doesn't mean that others don't, but lets not start that debacle of a debate lol.
