Default About to install new HU... anything I need to know?!!?

I just received the Alpine 7856 from Crutchfield and am pretty amp'd to to install. I'm also going to hook up an Infinity Basslink II as well.

Is there anything I should know before I put all this crap together?

.dan.

Eh, there's really nothing tough about it... Is this your first head unit install?

The last time I installed a HU was about 7 years ago with my 91' Civic hatchback... it was such a breeze with those.

Its still easy in the Scion.

Just remove that trim around the shifter. Then unscrew and remove the HVAC unit. That's really all there is to getting to that area. All the rest is self explanatory.

Happy birthday Jason!

Alright, the deal with the Alpines... Lots of tweaking options. You can mess with more settings on the alpine than with most other head units.

The pioneers are not that bad either. They have nice EQ settings to tweak. They have nicer screens than the Alpines too.

I partially bought an Alipine because my last HU was an Alpine. I've installed 3 Pioneer HUs for friends, and always have preferred the Alpine's I've had over their HUs.

Um, the wiring harness will tell you which wire is which...

Like red is always 12v acc. Yellow is always 12v battery. Black is always ground. Solid blue power antenna. Blue/white is remote wire... etc

The wiring harness will note which wire is which. The Pioneer will also have a chart to show which wires are which. In almost all cases you're just matching identical colors. Typically the wiring harnesses both have the same colors. Just match them and solder/crimp/tape them.

You'll have to buy a steering wheel controls adapter.

You'll need something like this
