you don't return a speed, or you return a speed that incredibly inaccurate...like 300mph.

I'm prety sure cops don't write jammer tickets very much, but all they would have to do is call out another unit and have them confirm that something is jamming the radar.

Either way, don't do it and if you plan to, you're an idiot

I wouldn't risk getting caught if I were you. Just not worth it.

The most I would do is invest in a good radar detector, like an Escort or Valentine One. Don't get a crappy Cobra from Autozone..........

if u were gonna do a radar jammer, u should figure out a way to turn it on and off. that way, after u jam the radar, if the cop comes after u and tries to figure out if u used one, u can shut the thing off to prevent another jammed or distorted signal when he tries it again.

Cops can't search your engine, glove compartment, trunk, anything not in plain sight unless you've commited a criminal offense, i.e. not a misdemeanor. So a tail light out and they can't search unless you let them. D.U.I. and they can look at whatever they want.

I think the law was initially created for truck drivers. They would jam the signals so they could speed and get to wherever they're getting to quicker.

Problem is is that it's dangerous to have 6000+lbs of something plowing down the road at 75mph....

I think it was intended to save lives really. ???

Its illegal because its sending out a signal. FCC is the one to blame. It would be like opening up an FM radio station without the FCC's approval(in a very general/literal sense)

A radar detector doesnt send out any signals, it just intercepts/interprets signals sent in its direction. A jammer actually sends out 2 pulses at different speeds(ie 10mph + 120mph)

here in Cali. At least in my area. We have drag net. And if a drag net officer pulls you over for speeding (Drag Net is a task force that deals with street racing etc) they can pop your hood and search.

Of course for a drag net officer to pull you over. You would have to be breaking a law. Be it speeding. decible. or anyother moving violation. And give them a reason for believing you may have illegal parts in your car.

I.E. you have a loud fart can. body kit with high spoiler. anything that will make them suspect you have modified the engine of your car.

This is not correct. A radar detector works just like a marine radar. The radar gun sends out a "ping" that bounced off your car and returns to the gun. It measures the amount of time and distance and calculates the speed which it then sends to the display.

What the radar jammer does (you were corect in this) is send a multitude of signals at different speeds and intervals so that the radar gun gets "confused" as to which one to interpret. The gun then usually displays an "error" message.

In some areas, you wouldn't even know you're being tagged. If the office gets an error message, he/she may call ahead to have another unit measure you again or have the plane/helicopter tag you from above.

Why do I know? My cousin is a CT Hwy Patrolman and I used to be an MP

Do yourself a favor, don't speed ridiculously. Most cops will let you go if you are 5-10 miles over the limit. Oh, and in most states, any speed over 100 mph is automaticaly a felony.

You said exactly what he said, except a radar detecor is not radar. The GUN does what you're describing. The radar DETECTOR doesn't do anything like this. It does not ping a cop car to see how fast your going

they all work jus not too well. i have a walmart one, whistler i think for 23 dollars,

i mean it goes off alot, 80 percent r false alarms from other signals, but in the 2 months ive had it, its saved me out of 3 tickets where cops were hiding with a detector ahead.

i mean i cant afford a fancy one, so this will do.

it actually measures the frequency shift of the transmitted signal. Doppler affect ya know

I was referring to the radar gun "pinging" your car, not the other way arround.

Let's clear this up b/c i'm confused as hell.

You said he was incorrect b/c he said radar detectors don't send out signals. What you are saying is that a detector works like a radar itself?
