Default Aftermarket HU AM Probelm

I installed a HU (dvd w/ no nav). Everything works except for AM reception. Cant pick up any signals. FM works fine. Used a wire harness but didnt connect the Power Antenna wire thinking that the tc does not have any power antenna. Could that be the culprit? I've searched but only found relevance issue with xA/xB where it says the Power Antenna wire needs to be connected to a power source?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

it doesn't have a power height antenna (that raises and lowers, like you're thinking) but the antenna is powered. It's an amplified antenna. You need to hook up that antenna wire from the head unit (you should have a wire from the HU for that, to the wiring harness adapter that hooks up to the factory wiring) to turn signal the antenna amp to turn on. Then I do believe you'll get AM without a problem.

which deck did you install. some aftermarket decks are known not to be very good with radio signals as well.
