To get rid of the light, simply take the gauges apart like you are doing an led swap and remove that led.

how hard is removing the cluster? can you compare it to another mod? example: header?? and any one think they will use the obd2 port?

Removing the cluster is very easy. Compared to a header it is nothing. The more difficult will be removing the LED. You might just want to cover it with something. I know Garage1217(something like that) had a diagram of the gauge cluster and which LED's do what. Im sure someone else can give more specific instructions.

My thing is, I didn't know it was illegal to not have airbags. There are plenty of older cars still floating around that don't have them. It doesn't make sense

The tech section on here has a gauge led swap tutorial. Tells you step by step how to take it apart.

Getting it out takes me less than 3 min. Taking it apart requires removing the front bezel, removing the needles, taking the gauge faces off and then removing the white bezel and the LCD display. You then have a bare board to work with.
