Default Airbags and Multimeters - Urban Rumor?

I'm getting ready to start poking around with my DMM (at the stock sub in an 0 and I wanted to check if anyone has heard if there is any danger of setting off the airbags.

I've heard in some types of cars this has happened.

Airbags and their connections would be yellow. The wires will also be in a yellow wire loom. The only thing that could set it off could be something like a test light. A digital multimeter will NOT set off an airbag. But it is possible to use as little as 9 volts to set off the air bag.
