ok so im havening trouble with tunning my amp it is a crunch PZI 1000.1 all it has is a bass boost ,0-12 low pass 50-150 sub sonic filter 15-55 and level6-0.2 on the amp and a bass **** 0-18db on my dash and it has a protection light but when i get the bass that is loud enough that i want (which isnt even that much) the protection light turns on and my lights dim and then i left it on to long with the protection light on and blew all the fuses on the amp. what should i have the levels at and i have a line out converter with adjustable gains on each channel it an 80 hz line out converter. so what should i have those at and was should i have my stock stereo levels and ssp at i have 2 pheonoix gold rds 10 inch 4 ohm dvc subs wired in parallel to 1 ohm on the amp. so i need help getting it to work properly thx

dang bro, i don't condone using low quality amps but to each his own. are you using the old head units or one of the newer ones? because maybe the newer ones have rca outputs which makes it easier and direct ipod connection. I will help you with the settings-
Never use bass boost! Put subsonic filter at 15hz. Disconnect the bass **** and throw it away. Match level **** with your head unit level. Most likely, the reason why your amp went into protection and the fuses blew is because you were overloading it with bass boost and your level was too high. Replace the fuses and try again or take it to an authorized dealer of maxxsonics.

 

i have an 07 tc with basic headunit it came with and yeah the bass know is crap and do you know what the stock HU level is i have a LOC that is 80 hz ajustable gain that are turned up fully but the amp works better with bass **** nplugged im going to a authorized maxsonics dealer on the 26 they where closed today

 

do you think a new alternator wold help my uncle said i might need one

nothing to do with your alternator. Im pushing 1500 watts with a power cap and my lights still dim. When your getting above 1000 watts, especially with no cap, your going to have some headlight and interior light dimming.

Its like I said in the other thread, you get what you pay for. A lot of the technology you get in some of the bigger brand amplifiers is their cooling ability. Your set up seems pretty basic.

In the end, you may be able to tweak some things but I would be willing to bet that its just the quality of the amplifier.

If your lights are dimming you aren't getting enough power to the car! thats y your lights dim. Your amps are grounded to the car so it wouldn't be getting enough power eithor. It is eithor your alternator or batery. A way to check the alternator is to turn on the car and then unplug the negative charge on your battery. If the car keeps running your alternator is good and i suggest testing and possibly replacing your battery.

 

theres your problem right there. not many of the top of the line amps will function at 1 ohm. wire your subs to 8 ohms each by wiring them in series. then wire the two subs that are in series in parallel. that will be a 4 ohm load and your amp shouldn't overheat and go into protection. crunch is actually pretty decent for a cheaper brand.

 

...because of the 1000 watt amp drawing the power...

anyway if dimming is the issue you can try going and buying a optima yellow top battery but you'll still prob get some dimming. As for the over heating, tc-guy is prob right..

 

i agree with tc guy.

 

we stated that you could run 1 ohm with a few of the other amps we mentioned....but not this one. you need a new amp. ideally, you need to return this one and pony up the extra $70 for something at least considered decent. do not forget.....you were warned about using this amp.

im thinking about buying an mmats d800 from a dealer in town but i did rewire the subs to 8 ohm each so its 4 ohms togeter and it worked a little better but the bass **** still has the protection light turn on really quick so should i unplug that

 

don't use the bass **** or bass boost. they are bad news in general!

 

Yea the only bass boosting I do is through my EQ on my head unit. And that's only after I tuned my amp to the right HPF freqeuncy, so I don't even have to do much fiddling around through the HU at all

Hey exige, I've been meaning to ask you -- are the CDT subs as good SQ wise as their components are? I've heard great stuff about the comps, but not too much on their subwoofers.
