Default AMP - Turn on/off with radio

I've searched for this information to no avail! I've installed an audio amp in my tc. I've got the amp remote turn on wired to an accessory terminal (so it comes on when key is in acc/run position). This seems to be typical of what is recommended on this forum. The only problem is that I get a very loud POP from the speakers when the ignition is turned off. I'm trying to locate a remote turn-on wire from the factory head unit - So the amp turns on only when the radio is turned on. Anyone been successful doing this? How? (The only solution I can think of is to wire a 12V relay in series with the radio, so the relay closes when the radio is turned on. My only concern is that the magnet wire will not carry the current the radio requires.) Comments/Suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. I checked each wire on the factory wiring harnesses. There are 3 plugs. One is for speakers, one is for steering wheel controls and the last one is for power. On the power connector, I can not find +12V thats on only when the radio is on. All are either on constantly, or switch on or off with the key. Do you remember the color of the wire you tapped and which of the three plugs it was on?

Thank you. I checked this link earlier and it agrees that the blue wire is the right one. However it notes that the "B+ is always 12V to ground". This agrees with what I found, that is when you measure the voltage between the blue wire and the ground (grounding to the body) is always 12V! Key on, key off, radio on, radio off etc. Is there something I'm not catching here? Where else would you pick up the negative (except maybe the wiring harness, which wouldn't handle the current requirements of the amp). The amp has a single common ground for the amp power as well as the remote switch. Thanks for any help!

I used the power antenna line for my amp. (I believe that is what it's called). I wired that into the remote on on the amp. It's in one of the harnesses behind the HU. Sorry I can't be of any more help.

I don't understand the problem? Just solder the remote turn-on wire to the head unit's blue wire. That's what it's meant for.

there will always be the 12V running. even when my car is off, my amps still get the 12V feed from my battery. it being 12V is normal. just solder/splice it on.

I hooked up my remote to my HVAC controls. I just used my multimeter till i found something 12V on only while the car is on. the popping can also be your ground.

Im not trying to take over this topic but im confused. I am ading my sub/amp kit this week. I will mount the amp near the spare tire, ground there use rca converters to attach to the rear speakers, but how do I do the acc turn on for the amp I only want it on when the radio is on. I dont know how to take apart the dash and don't want to screw something up. Figureing out how to get to the rear speaker wires is going to be hard enough. any help would be apreciated.

splice the line out converter behind your headunit, and run your RCAs instead to your back. getting acccess to your rear speakers is a pain in the butt. :D
