Default Amplifier giving me ****...

bought my jl audio 13tw5 yesterday, put it in the trunk hooked it up and was working fine. however i took it a little to far. I turned the gain up all the way on the amp, frequency filter set at 80hz, and then the next time i turned on my car, the yellow thermal light is on.

Now to mention a couple things..

my grounding wire is hooked up to the bolt that shot through the back for the previous factory bazooka setup, and when we were installing my sub with an ingenious mount, it twisted the grounding cable multiple times around the bolt.

I have a feeling that might be whats wrong, but idn.. i let the amp cool overnight and it still didn't work this morning. it still has power to it and all, just the thermal light is on. hope my amp is not destroyed cause my sub was so power hungry...

What does everyone think?

Oh i do not have those volt testers or whatever and don't plan on spending the money on one cause i will never use it again lol..

a multi meter from sears is only $20 dollars and they come in handy all the time. as for your problem grounding anything to a bolt is the worst thing you can do. you need to sand all the paint away and screw right to the chassie using a star washer. but that shouldnt have anything to do with the thermal light. you should disconnect the amp let sit 4 alittle bit change your fuse then when you hook it back up only hook up the NEW ground, power, amp turn on, and the light should be gone. make sure your wireing to the sub is at a ohm load that your amp is stable at!!!
