i can get a decent price on this thing with the dvd navigation unit. crutchfield doesn't tell u if it'll fit-they dont check for fit on the monitors.

hmmm......seems like this is just a screen....no source player...you could probably fit it into the dash with some fabrication skills.....or..... nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer skills....girls like guys who have skills....

Well, the width is good, the height is a little too tall for the opening...at least w/ the flip down cover.

is there a specific unit that u know of that would fit?

what about this one:
http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_...p?cid=10614#fe

it says that it has the nav input and 2 x AUX inputs and 1 x AUX output. will that allow me to hook it up to speakers, dvd, and cd changer or player? i haven't done this stuff before so i'm kinda lost here.

Did you try calling Crutchfield and asking them? There's always a chance they have the info somewhere, just not posted on the website.

ok, here are the dimensions for the alpine monitor:
161mm x 109mm x 28.5mm

will that fit? if that won't fit, what sizes are the max i can go to?

the dimensions in inches for this unit are:
6.34 x 4.29 x 1.12

besides all this other stuff, what are you using for your audio? do you plan on sitting there in silence looking at the screen or am i missing something? Are you relocating the HU?

well to do it right i would not rush it. For a temp situation you could get a standalone unit then sell it back on ebay (they hold value really well) or you could get a laptop and use that.

I would save and take your time. The kenwood is a great all in one and its really not that expensive, especially if you have "connections". Other options would include a carputer but this will really set you back but you get all the features of a computer in your dash as well as a full HU type controls (www.drivesoft.net). Or you could peice a system together like what your doing but takes alot more time to get it to look/fit right and even then, having a deck under your seat sounds like a pain in the ___. Even if you put a deck in the glove box its still a pain because youll have to open the GB everytime you want to turn up/down the volume. Its your car and your choice, youll do whatever you want to do. Thats only my recomendations. Lemme know if i can help

hmmm.....perhaps fabricate brackets to hold the monitor directly outside/covering of the HU opening and remove the cover to the stereo......then maybe drop the HU into the lower srmrest storage.......

Trying to install a plain old LCD monitor in that spot is a mess of headaches, to make it look good you're going to need to bondo/fiberglass something, and that ain't easy.

Plus you're not even going to be able to have touch screen control on any of your functions, and you're left with a head unit, DVD player, and all kinds of other stuff to squeeze in little corners of the car.

I would highly suggest either going with a double DIN unit or flipout.
