Maybe, but after realizing that the main objective of most car companies is to cut costs, yeah, you get it. Why do you think so many cars come with standard halogen bulbs versus high intensity discharge? HIDs are undoubtedly "safer" than halogens.
i think headlights to seats is a horrible analogy.
stock seats and belts have to meet strict oem standards. aftermarket seats do not as they do not have to be certified, thats why you see a lot of seats are for "off road use only." My point is i will never put a seat in my car unless its FIA certified (i had corbeaus before but i learned my lesson from them)

Well, whether the analogy is worthy or not is besides the point. The point is that almost every automotive company is in the buisiness of making a profit. My personal opinion is that these companies produce products that most likely do not pass the safety inspections by much. Now as for these strict safety tests, what do they entail? Are they comparable to the safety testing of our indestructable sheet metal bumpers?
listen,
i dunno why you're getting defensive but if i'm in an accident i don't want to die. FIA approved seats are only allowed in racing and if its good enough for racing its good enough for the streets. i don't know the testing procedures as i do not work for the certification company but i do know that it is much more strict when it comes to certifying seats. And yes every company is turning a profit otherwise they would not be in business so can you imagine how high of quality those seats are if they're only made for 100 a seat and then they're selling them for 200 a seat? i'm sorry but that is not something i'm willing to risk, if you are go for it but when the seat breaks if you hit something don't come crying to me, i'll jsut be laughing in the back saying i told you so.

Wow, really can't take the pressure of a debate huh? You know, people in life are going to have different opinions than you. Good luck with everything, but please, chill out. It's just car talk. I appreciate your concern, and realize what you are trying to say.
no its just late and i don't really feel like dealing with it, to me my life is worth much more than 300 dollars in a racing seat call me crazy but jesus christ dude spend some money where it counts. i think racing seats is the LAST thing you want to cheap out on. You're right people will have different opinions but think about it, can you really argue with this? do you really want to be wrong when it comes to a life / death situation?
i don't think i've tried to say anything, i think i've been more than clear that cheap seats will yield cheap results.

I undrestand that, and I am sure there are some safe seats for a good price out there somewhere.
Now you said that you had a problem with corbeau seats?

It all really depends on the brand you want to buy... Sparco? Recaro? Weapon R? NRG? Corbeau? Dare I say Bride?
Like Nebster said, don't go cheap on these things. I personally was gonna get NRG seats because of the price. But then, I realized that these seats won't support me in the event of an accident. That's why I'm getting something else...
