Default Anyone relocate moonroof open/close switch?

I want to know where you put it and how you like it. I moved mine to the floor by the foot rest for the clutch pedal so i can open and close it with my foot. Very convenient and i don't have to take my hand off the wheel or shifter. I was wondering if there were any other cool places that were also convenient!

I did a search and i'm not sure anyone else even did this "mod" so let me know.

I'd love to see a picture of that. I've been thinking of mounting my moonroof to a thumb switch on my hand controls.

It was VERY easy to do, It just takes a little solder and some extra 18 ish gauge wire. I used a heavy duty truck switch for mine cuz i'll be kicking it to use it, but for a finger switch any ol' momentary switch is fine. I don't have a digital camera, but my girl does so I'll try to get some pics of the after because obviously it's already done. but if you want me to write it up on how to do it i will! It seriously only takes like an hour beginning to end, and thats only because you have to loosen up the headliner.

It is definately bad to the bone, lol. But i had my girl thinkin i had installed a sensor in the glass and that everytime she tapped the glass it would open or close, I had to tell her before i ____ed myself laughing though. I'll try to have pics on here by tonight, but like i said i'll hve to borrow a camera cuz i don't have one. But the nice thing about this mod is that you cannot tell i did it. I just added a switch to the floor. I try to keep it so that if i must take an emergency stop to the dealer they can't just look at it and say, woo, wait a minute and void my warranty, i am kinda paranoid about that

Already done. Most of the time things don't break until the warranty is over anyways. *Waiting for the pix of the spot is use to be at*

Interesting. I'd like to see how you did that. If you need to upload them to a site, use Photobucket.com.

Anyways - I'm going to move this to a forum where more people can see this.

Finally here it is but the main pic sucks, don't worry i'll get a better camera and do it again later but here it is for now, i couldn't get the freakin camera to focus at all, but you can still see what i did...

The blue wire is soldered to the common point of the switch (the middle), and the yellow wires are the open and close contacts of the switch (i only had two colors)
There are two contacts for each switch position, i guess it for redundancy, but anyway i soldered to both just to be safe.

I ran the wires above the headliner and down the pillar, behind the seal in the door jam and then to the floor by the foot rest. I personally used a heavy duty truck switch so that it doesn't break when i use it, but you can use what you want or even move the switch somewhere else.

LOL!! Tell me about it, it sucked, the black circle beside the switch now is a cap i put over the first hole i put in. It was too close to my foot and i kept bumping it, so then i moved it and now all is good, haven't bumped it once. Oh well, trial and error i guess.

The nice thing about it is that you can put it anywhere and both switches still work, its just an option to use, if im sittin at a stop sign, reaching my hand up doesn't bother me, but while im driving i don't like to take my hands off the wheel or the shifter!!! I've had too many close calls where i have to swerve or speed up, and now i am cautious.
