Anyone want to recommend a in-dash navi unit?
Shopping for a new one not sure looked at the scion navi but the graphics looked a lil.... eghh. I saw like a best buy one for $300 which was an AVIC U310BT but the screen was small. Anyone want to toss some different ones out. Thanks.
I like the AVIC-X910BT. It's a good mid-tier in dash navi. It has a lot of functionality like MSN direct, XM ready, hands free calling built in, ipod connectivity, voice recognition, customizable lighting to match your interior etc. 700-800 on ebay right now. Not to shabby.
(I have owned both, and yes, I stand by my statement)
im an alpine and pioneer dealer and used to carry eclipse but dropped them to due to ____ty customer service and tech support and warranty issues, things that would get sent in for warranty would take over 2 months it was rediculous.
id choose alpine over pioneer anyday

Kenwood > ALL
Can't go wrong with their integrated Garmin Nav! The interface isn't the prettiest but it beat the brakes off both my Pioneer F900 and F90's. Eclipse by far has the best screen quality though.

You are comparing the wrong nav. Compare the Eclipse avn726e to that junk pioneer. The avn62d has been out for a couple of years.
yeah, the avn726e is a nice unit. i guess it's a matter of personal taste. i've never had any problems with pioneer, but i've always ran their premier lines. i could understand you being frustrated with them if you had a bad experience.
for me the best way to judge electronics is to hunt down and review user reviews on the products. anytime im spending 500+ i'm researching the ish out of it first.

im also in the market for navi.. ive been searching for a good unit and so far my choices have came down to Pioneer Z110BT, jvc detachable screen, kenwood.. but i have a friend who does electronics for years and he has came first in dub shows as far as electronics go even he told me that all pioneer models under the z series suck... but if i dont want to spend much he said to go with jvc.. but since im getting somthing good i might as well spend good.. so i decided on pioneer z series.. getting that foe nearly 1100 installed with viper 5701 and the motorized tc radio door..
^ some people have had problems with the z-series software. pioneer has updates availible on their website. also, a cool site for modding and bypassing the avic line is www.avic411.com
I have an avic f90bt navi in mine and it is nice because it is moddable
update to new maps easily and you can really customize it if you know what your doing

So, y'all were mentioning the Eclipse avn726e, and from what y'all were saying, it sounds like a good unit, which makes me feel better cause last night I decided i'm gonna buy one here in a few months. So, figured i'd throw this out for anyone interested in it too, Crutchfield has them on sale right now for $799 and comes with the install kit.
I had an eclipse, I liked it, but it was impossible to search it for a starbucks.
I have a pioneer f90 now, it is a little better, but if I am looking for a particular place, I still use my phone. I only use the nav to see nearby streets, I rarely type in an address. And the guidance seems to work better on the pioneer than the eclipse.
The pioneer is decently priced, works pretty well, has about a 30 second boot time, In just over a year, it has locked up 2-3 times, nothing major.
I hardly ever use bluetooth, it worked okay with my edge iPhone, but I have yet to connect my 3gs iPhone to it.
Voice recognition is pretty good for telling it to play something off of an ipod.
I also bought the pac-xx thing to make the steering wheel controls work, they react a little slow, but it's nice to haveY
Pioneer f90 has preloaded maps, and you can upgrade them with a SD card. You can also play music off of a usb drive.
Eclipse's do seem to be good, I traded mine to a good friend, he still has it, its about 3 years old now, and I got it as a refurb. On the one I had, you had to leave the map disk in.
