i'm getting wierd noise from my speakers even when the volume is turned down to zero. it's hard to describe the sound, but it's almost like a very low hum or buzzing sound. basically, it's annoying-not too loud, but u can def hear it. any ideas on what's causing it and how to get rid of it?

 

how about a quick breakdown of your system... what do you have... what did you install... how did you install it.. its best to start off from there...

 

Also, does the noise get louder and change pitch when you rev the car?? If so you probably have alternator whine, very very common.

 

feedback crossed wire somewhere or if you have subs or an AMP you may be running the pwer and rca's to close that will cause interference

 

and you may want to change where you're ground is well haha grounded, u can also try a ground loop isolator, if u are using multiple amped components

 

$10 says ground.

 

i have front and rear components, an extra set of mid tweets in the pillars, 2 amps, one sub, 2F cap running with 2 gauge power and ground and 4gauge to everything. the noise doesn't get louder when the car revs. it stays the same. u can't really hear it obviously when the vol is turned up, but when the vol is turned down to 0 u can hear it and it annoys me. am i using a bad ground point? i gotta take this thing apart and take pics of everything. shoulda done it during the install. i had someone do the install for me cuz i my back and neck are screwed up from when my car got crunched. i didn't really check their work-stupid, but i didn't have the time to sit there for the install.

 

I'd say it's a ground loop or insufficient ground...look in the TECH section at the "10 commandments to a noise free audio install" thread

 

I lean towards ground as well. Well, not like I am drunk leaning towards ground.. like I am leaning towards the ground being the cause :D

 

And dont forget, a decent ground on the head unit is as important as it is on the amp.

 

i'm saying if its not the ground then its def a ground loop, get the isolator!!!!!!!!
