Auto-dimming Mirror...
I was thinking about getting the auto-dimming mirror on my tC but i just wanted to get some feedback on how people who have it installed on their tC's like it. Also i am going to get 25% tint on the back hatch and i was wondering if having the hatch tinted wuold effect the auto-dimming mirror. Thank you for your feedback.
don't forget it has homelink too for opening your garage door etc!
don't have it myself, but i want one everynight when i'm driving and i'm half blinded until i flip my mirror, ick, it's just really convenient, i do think it's a bit overpriced though, as many scion accesories are, that's what we get or paying low for the car though, we pay more for the extras.

the mirror works great, i love not having to deal with it every time theres a car or truck behind me. the thing that is great is that it dims more depending on how close the car is, so you can still see if its way behind ya. The homelink is also great, no openers layin around the car.
with tint i would have to say forget about it. The tint i had with other cars blocks some light out at night so its like the same function.

The mirror is a great option! My TC is tinted but headlights from behind still get dimmed out like they are supposed to. I wish they would have applied the auto dimming to the side view mirror as well. Homelink is a big plus too, I have both my garage doors programmed and have room for one more. The mirror also has map lights of various color with a cycle feature. I say go for it!
I have the auto dimming mirror with 20% tint on my hatch. It works great and I'm glad that I got it. It also has a map light in it and three programmable homelink buttons.
I also have the side/head airbags. Toyota has released new instructions allowing you to put it on cars with the side airbags. You weren't supposed to do it before because the wiring runs down the A-pillar, where the airbag is. Now they have instructions to wire it up to the sunroof power, so you don't have to run the wires down the pillar. It's a quick and easy self install.

Yup what he said. ^^^
Took me about 20 min to install and I think the mirror is worth the money. My parents have a 2000 Avalon and their auto-dimming mirror turns a greenish color and blocks most of the light. The ones for our tC's turn black when theres enough light shining into it and does an excellent job. Also, the ambient lighting is just plain cool.

Gotta understand how the mirror works.
Incoming light causes the mirror to polarize itself. If you have tints, less light comes through so the mirror polarizes less. If you've no tints, all the transmitted light will cause the mirror to polarize further. It's not a dark/light sensor thing like fancy headlights.
