Default AVIC D3 with BOYO backup camera Problems!

Hello,

I have an avic D3 and a BOYO license plate backup camera. Camera had 3 wires, the yellow RCA, red and black. Yellow RCA i hooked up to the rear backup camera plug on the D3, black wire grounded, and red wire i tried to hook up to various wires in the rear that i thought would have a 12v current.

However when i use the D3 to select backup camera, it shows just a black screen.

Any suggestions?

I attempted to tap into the white/black reverse light wire, for camera power as well as that little trunk light. Thanks for the help!

You might have a bad ground. Try a different ground.

Found out after very much trial and error:

Tap power wire of camera to ACC wire of headunit.

Tap reverse signal of Avic D3 to the pink reverse wire underneath the glove box.

Ground camera wire to one of many locations on trunk hatch.

All these hours to figure that out...

I had mine wired up to stay on when my headunit was powered on. Sometimes I wanted to check out the car or the female behind me. It was nice for a bit, but it takes just as much time to get the screen to the backup camera display as it does to get out of the car and see how much room I'm working with.
