Default avic z2

Im looking to get a dvd/nav for my car within the month and I think Ive decided on the z2. I have a few questions for anybody that has one. Do I need to drill the brackets to use the cover (pretty sure I do just like most the others but i would like to make sure)? Do I need to buy a wiring harness as well? Do I keep the steering wheel controls? Also is there anything else anybody can tell me that I would need to know?

Someone instead of drilling their brackets they sanded some of the inside of the cover to get enough clearance to pass over the ****.

yeah you can drill the side brackets to push it in abit and if it still doesn't close right then you just sand the inside down. depends on where you buy it cause some places already provide you with harness made for your car. you'll need to rewire the steering wheel controls to the headunit, but you'll only get to use the volume which is better than nothing IMO.

i have the z1 and yes, you do need to drill new holes on the brackets. i had to buy a wiring harness as well. and to keep the steering wheel controls, the only interface i know of that works with the TC is made by PAC audio.

http://www.pac-audio.com/products/pr...el%20Interface

you would need to the the SWI-PS for the pioneer HU

other than that um....u can do some reading on www.avic411.com for hacks and mods. thats about it

no problem. though i should warn you about the PAC interface. i set mine so that i use the up and down arrows for switching presets on XM and radio. it cannot switch songs on the ipod or HDD. u have to choose between the other. i chose the XM and radio one cuz theres jsut sooo many presets on the avic, and i listen to ipod most but those are the songs i wanna hear; i wont change songs most of the time.

other than that, i also bought these brackets on ebay that fill up the gaps on both sides of the avic. the avic doesnt completely fill up the area under the cover.

thats it :D enjoy your new kick butt HU
