Default BASS + RADIO HELP

My friend needs some help, what should he do?

He put my premiere stock radio in and he said whenever the stock sub hits when he plays a CD with the SRT on it, it gets soft then the volume turns back to normal so there isn't any bass.

Thank youuu

Press audio control then scroll through till you see ASL and turn it off.

Ok well I am the friend. I have a 05 tc and the ASL function doesn't show up in the audio menu for me. I have no clue what the problem is. When I listen to MP3's and have the SRT on, it gets soft as the bass hits. Then it goes back to normal when there isn't bass. When I turn the SRT off the music is fine the whole song but I would like the SRT on without any problems.

Here are what some of my friends are asking,

"a real HU will put out a little more wattage as well to help with the bass without running an amp or anything. plus you can really tune it in."

'ok well how he has this hooked up would prolly help a little on ideas of what is going on.

has he checked his wiring? although i doubt it's anything there... are there actually amp pre outs on this thing or is it wired with a line out converter? is this going to an amp for subs or is he just meaning base in the door speakers?

problem is way too vauge...'

'more info please, like what seth said, wire size, # of amps, does he have a good ground if there are aftermarket amp(s)?"

Well the stock sub just has a amp in the box. The wiring harness just plugs right into the stock harness and then just into the radio so it has no pre outs.

Ok well this also happens when I unplug the sub from the headunit. Whenever the stock speakers hit with a little bass it gets soft. I have no idea what is doing it.

one of my friend said this

"I'm not positive, but I think the 05's and 07's have a different wiring harness. This means that the sub would be wired up differently.

However, it could just be that the stereo is a bit different and the SRT is messing it up. The sub should have a bass modulator of sorts just to prevent distortion, which would in turn prevent the sub from being blown. The SRT might be giving it too much bass and the sub won't register.

Is there any bass when the SRT is off?"

Yes there is bass when the SRT is off but just not as loud.

I just wanted to chime about the SRT. What I noticed is, the SRT changes and enhances frequencies on the fly depending on how the music changes. I have an 07 without the preouts. With factory headunit I have, it decreases the bass the louder I turn it up. It may all sound silly be factory headunits do that. The one in my Chevy did it. MTX makes a device to combat that problem and changing over to an aftermarket HU will solve the problem too. As for right now you could turn the SRT off and turn your gain and boost up on the amp. I'd use the boost sparingly so you can still get a clean, deep, rich bass.

Werd. I'm trying to combat a similar problem now that I put my components in. I'm hoping that I'll be able to solve the problem with some amps and this "supposedly" better than average line level converter. I just don't feel like dropping money on a clean sweep when I could put it towards a AVIC F-900. We got them in at work and the price is nice, but you know, just being cheap.
