I've heard that passports are as good as V-1s.

However, I would like to share that my friend and I were driving up north in his jeep with his radar detector (I was driving at the time), there was a cop hiding in some bushes and I god f-ed by pop radar. I was just goin a long all carefree and then all of a sudden the detector starts screaming but it was too late...

I have the 9500i and I wouldn't get a V1 anytime soon... The things this does beyond just great detection... amazing. It has GPS built in, and if say you pass a best buy every day and it goes off every day... hit the mute button 3 times when you go by and it'll block out that signal, but nothing else. If a cop was sitting there the next day, it'd be going off, but not for best buy... crazy stuff... Anyway, for under $200, just stay away from Cobra... False alerts all over the place.

Wow that's awesome. I was wondering what the GPS thing was for. I know about the GPS TomTom where they will indicate to you where all the speed traps and etc are at.

Funny thing is, the 9500i does all of this too. It has a usb port on it to download more speed traps and red light cameras. I don't think they've got it up and running yet, but it's there for the future. There's even a "mark location" button so you can put in your own speed trap locations and all.... only problem I've had with it is it goes in a proximity from all directions for that point... for example, i marked a place off of a highway and later on I drove by that exit on the highway and it still warned me about it. It told me it was 3000ft away, but still...
Check it out though...

Here's what Radar Roy said about it in a blog
Lastly, here's something from Laser Veil

It's the only radar detector I'd recommend.

I've been using a K40 RD850 for the past 6 years and it's been great. It saves me all the time on highway driving. I don't think any radar detector is real effective for city/non-highway driving. I have a lot of friends with cheap best buy detectors and they do nothing but make noise/talk 24/7. Most of the time I don't even notice mine, unless there's a cop using his radar/laser. K40 will pay for your ticket if you get one within 1 year of purchase. The next detector I get will be a K40 Calibre stealth with the laser diffuser.
