Default Broken hatch strut support, which replacement part to get?

So my hatch support / strut / lifts are broken now and I'm wondering which replacement part to get?

I just have the original supports in my car (68960-0W250), but doing a search on this part number shows they've been replaced with 68960-0W252, and that it costs ~$120, I assume for the pair.

From some forum searching, I see some recommendations to get the heavy duty supports (PT47A-21050-SS), which is significantly cheaper at ~$45 for the pair.

My question is whether using the heavy duty supports when I don't have a spoiler makes sense... I get that the hatch will open more easily, but conversely, it would also be a bit harder to close then wouldn't it?

the heavy duty struts don't make closing the hatch too significantly more difficult.
