Default cable adaptor troubleshoot question?!?!?!?

I have a remote mount DVD player that I want to plug into a 19" computer screen. The computer screen is not attached to a computer I just want to use it as a TV screen. The problem is that the DVD player has an RCA output and the monitor has a DVI input! So if anybody has any ideas on how to fix this problem without spending $250 on a signal converter box please let me know. I have found DVI to RGB cables(which I would just run in reverse), but I do not know enough about the the difference between RGB and RCA cables to know if that would work or not. Can I run a RGB cable in the place of a RCA cable or will it not carry the signal? And on a RGB cable which one is the video line? Red, Green or Blue? on an RCA it is the yellow.
