Default Can the stock headunit power type r components?

Hey just wondering if the stock ipod head unit from a 2007 scion tc could power type-r components in the front. I have a single channel alpine amp mrd1005, 1000watt, powering my two 10" alpine type-r subs, could or should i power it off there, or get another amp. i was planning on eventually getting a 4 channel to do all four speakers, but wanted to just put components in the fronts for now off the stock head unit, just not sure if it can power them.

The stock unit can power them, though they'll be quite lacking in volume when compared to your sub bass. The stock HU only puts out about 18wRMS/channel. Also, don't ever get rear speakers, front components are all you need. Some people use coaxials back there for "rear fill", but it's unnecessary and screws up your whole sound stage. As stated though, you can run the Type R's off the stock head unit for now, but you'll soon crave more and step up to a nice two-channel amp for them.

Any questions, just ask me. My build is in my sig and I've got plenty of pics to back up my craftsmanship.

Yes of course, though the stock tC system isn't bad, new speakers will definitely help. However, a new head unit and amp will deliver more noticeable difference than just speakers. If you can afford them, get the Type-X Pro's, if possible, or Type-X Ref's. The R's aren't bad, but the X series is much better. If you're looking for a great component set on a budget though, look into the Phoenix Gold RSD's. They're tried and true by a lotttttt of people and are only $87 shipped/set. They're comparable to many $200+ sets and stick right with them.

Considering the other $200-$400 sets they have reviewed only get mid-80's, a 77 is amazing for the cost.
