can a capcell go bad? i have a KCELL-400 by kole audio, and whenever i turn the ignition on it makes a steady beep and sometimes a grinding noise, anyone know whats going on? thanks

if capcell = capacitor, then yes they can go bad. Usually cylindrical caps have a little circle on the top of them, about the size of a pencil eraser. It should be totally flat. If its bowed upwards its a sign the cap is fried.

^^ it's a battery with a built in cap.


i don't know anything about these.

Ohhhh, well in that case I bet the long beep is a low voltage warning for the caps. Meter the leads when the car has been sitting awhile. If it's under 12.6 the battery portion is dying, if its 12.6 or higher the cap portion is probably dead.
