nice starting point. So if I may ask, how much is this all running you?

That is looking very nice, and you are right: do it right, do it once. Plus, it gets faster with every bit you do (not that you have many doors left, of course).

What front end are you going with for the car pc, or are you just going to use the O/S? And what drivers for the sound card?

Sub was already there, replaced the stock bazooka long time ago, and I had an alpine 9853 or 9857, something like that hooked up + ipod, now I'm upgrading to this.

computer was about $200 since I work in IT and had a lot of it laying around
amp was $280
both sets of speakers was just under $200
edead, dont remember, I think like $100?
misc wires, etc ~ $50
touchscreen was a trade to some guy who wanted to go back to stock so he gave me his modified center console piece for my stock one.

XP backend running tinyxp, 17 startup services including RoadRunner (front end), iGuidabnce (GPS). Il show pics of it later, its super slick, check it out on the mp3car.com forums/software/front ends/RR

Heh, good eye, those were there until the glue dries, couldn't really come up with a 'clean' way of installing them so out the epoxy came!

Quick note to all you guys thinking about doing this!

Even if your pc is pretty low in power usage (mine is less than 100w) DO NOT power it via ACC or accessory voltage, make a direct battery run and follow your own schematic, don't cheat like I tried to do.

Lets just say I learned the hard way

Pics to follow tomorrow!

Default Sunday update

Got some work done, but still not there yet, waiting on my damn baffels and VRD light upgrade to take apart the hatch and edead it all at once.

Here you go: (please excuse the dirtiness, the car has been worked on for two weeks with 0 attention to cleanliness, also yes I know I have a huge crack in my windshield, its getting fixed on Tuesday hopefully)

The whole thing can be disconnected from the main harness I chopped the hell out of the scion harness that came with the sub option.

Parrot Bluetooth system is wired to the mic input of the usb soundcard, not ideal since this will not get you any data from the phone on the screen but I change phones often and the 3 that I have used while I was building this system all did not work or were quirky as hell when hooked up to the pc via bluetooth. This gives me the ability to voice dial any one or recieve calls while driving thats all I wanted.

Video of the system in action is uploading...
