Default cathode install

could I do this with never doing anything electrical ever? I have searched and read alot of DIY diagrams on this, and want 2 tubes (1 under each side of the dash), and have some questions that one should probally know if they want to have a chance at a successful install. I have been reading this DIY

Im confused what you do with the wire after you strip it..how does it go into your fuse box, do you just jam it in or what =/

I also assume that the easiest way to put these in is using fuse box for drivers side and cig lighter for passenger side?

How do you actually ground a wire? you just wrap it around metal? im not sure how you make it hold..

well the first thing to do and i meen first.

1.goto autozone and geta set of wire crimps and butt connectors and ring connectors and shrink tubing.........just tell them at the counter what you are doing and they can help get you in the right direction.

2. get a 12v power source tester,it looks like an ice pick with a roach clip on it,you hook the roach clip to a piece of bare metal and touch the pick part to open fuse spots under the dash, there is one that has 12v to it at all times and one that has 12v to it when key is on only......use the one that has 12v for your power source.

3. disconect battery

4. hook up the lights, there is two wires on them that goto a ballast. What I like to do it touch one wire to + and one to the - on the battery and see if light lights up,if you have it backwards the light will not light, jsut swap the wires around.

5. next you need a switch.......if you are not good with electrical then get a disconnect switch that has only 2 prongs on the back instead of 3,the differance is with 3 prongs you light up the switch when it is on,but if you screw it up you can burn the switch so stay simple.

6.once the lights are in place and you have determined a - install a round clip to the end or eye clip or U clip, and find a good bolt or screw under the dash to loosen and mount it to.......make sure what you mount it to is touching metal and clean of paint.....you now have a ground.....always hook ground up first.

7.now for the power wire.......take and hook wire from ballast to the switch,if you need to lenghen wire use a but crimp or solder and never use electrical tape,it always falls off and then you get fires in car......never fun.

8. now from the other prong on the swithc hook a wire using proper crimp or solder and run that wire to the area on the fuse panel you found first that has 12v,be sure to use the proper crimps that slide over the mount posts on the panel......they area inexpensve and make a great connection that is safe.

9....double check all your connections.......mount switch to spot in the dash where switches go..........Oznium.com sells switches, get the 2 prong switch you need from them for Scions and it fits perfectly intot he dash.

10.once youare sure it is good.......hook up battery and turn on the switch......if you get lights you did good,if not then unhook battery and check connections again......

hope that helps.

Thanks, I learned some good info I didnt pick up from the diys I read...

im still confused how you take the appropriate wire and connect it to what exactly and how..

also," Each cathode kit draws about half an amp of current. It is recommend that you use a 2 to 3 amp fuse for 1 to a few kits. The fuse rating can be slightly higher than the combined amperage draw, but don't use a 10 or 20 amp fuse! "

I have no idea what this "fuse" even is ...yeah like I said never touched this stuff before lol

just head to autozone and ask them, they can set you rigth up with a basic wire kit for like $15 and you are agood to go,it is all going to make sense once you get the kit and see all the connectors.
