Default Clock illumination question

So, just figured i'd throw in i'm new here and I just got my tC 4 days ago.

Anyway, the first time I drove the car at night, I realized I couldn't see the clock. I was showing my mom the interior lighting to explain how little it has, and I realized that when the headlights are turned off, the clock is illuminated, but when they're turned on, it's not. Is this some faulty wiring or is it just the way they were? Sorry if it's been asked before, I looked but couldn't see if it had been.

Have you tried turning the dial on the left gauge where your temp and fuel gauge is?

That was the first thing I tried after I noticed the lights were too dim for my liking, but it was rotated all the all to the right.

As you can see the clock is illuminated with the headlights off, but not when on. Is that how its supposed to be or did someone mess up the wiring?

Didn't know that was the HVAC problem everyone kept talking about. I got it through dealership auctions (uncles friend works them for dealerships) but it only has 33,700 or so on it, so it still has the dealer warranty. So, take it to Scion then to have it fixed?

they won't fix it. mechanics and techs at dealerships only know how to replace it.

they should replace it for free.. if not. screw them and have someone else fix it for you.
i'll offer a free fix if you pay for shipping both ways.

Thanks man, but if the dealership won't replace it and all it is is that solder problem like the thread said, then i'm more than capable of resoldering it.
