Default Components

Well ive done research and im really trying to come to a final decision on components. I missed out of the eDi 6500's before they were discontinued. I'm really looking for something comparable because I love the quality of those speakers. I was looking at DLS but im a little hesitant. I'm not looking to spend 600+ on a set of components either.
Since ED wont be coming out with new components for a while im stuck with getting something else. I know there are many other very good brands out there, just looking for a little bit of help.

There were some recent posts about components not too long ago. You might want to check on those. DLS, CDT, Phoenix Gold RSDs, were highly recommended. I'll thow in these as well. Diamond Audio HEX S600s 6.5" component speakers can be had for under $200 shipped on ebay. Image Dynamics Chameleons CXS64 $360

diamond Audio and Image Dynamics both make good stuff and have a lot of good reviews. try visiting their websites and search for a dealer in your area. Best way to really find out is to listen for yourself.

For uber budget, the phoenix gold RSD's cannot be beat, I mean come on $80 a pair and they sound decent *LOL*.

I also recommend Image Dynamics xs65 components but they will set you back around 4-5 bills.

Thanks, will know more how the xs65's do in car, they were amazing on the board so running active will see how well I can tune them, I have no doubt the drivers can perform.

just to throw the experience with my components out there... I have the JBL GTI 6.5 and i absolutely love them, i get complements all the time from car stereo techs about how great they sound
getting the right speakers for sound quality is a big step but often the most important element that is forgotten is the quality of the output source and the tunning of the amplifier. your headunit needs at least 5volt outputs for high quality sound output in my experience and you need to have your amp tuned by a professional that knows what they are doing!

Totally wrong on the 5V part, GTI's are nice speakers, and setting gains correct is usually never done and should be done / can be done by anyone with basic 12V knowledge if they are shown how. Not a difficult process.

Well at the moment I would love to buy the CDTs from Exige but I dont have all the money right now. Im debating between those or the DLPs

How are the DLS MS6A ?

I wont be running speakers in the back but I would also like to know a good amp to power either DLS or CDT components to give them full potential. Without an amp running the tweeters and mids separate. I want to keep them together. Running off one amp.

I appreciate everyones help.

Not trying to go crazy but something in a great quality category that really pushes the components.

Still haven't even decided on subs, still trying to design a setup where i can still utilize my trunk.

An Alpine PDX-2.150 would be small, efficient, and powerful. They can be had for around $220 on eBay.

Something such as this Kicker would also do well: http://sonicelectronix.com/item_6571...r+ZX450.2.html

What do you listen to?

Who's installing the system?

What's the installer's skill level?

What's the rest of the equipment you plan on using?

What's your budget?

Where are you located?

Sorry for all the questions, but it's your hard earned money, and I'd like to help point you in the right direction. There may be a buddy of mine near you that can help!
