Default Crazy Eletrical Problems

Ok well let me start off by saying i have not got a CEL yet so thats good.

But here are my problems

My lights on dash are flickering when I am driving and then sometimes all coming on like ebrake light turn signals abs light everything sometimes would just all come on if not they would flicker on occasion. This has happened several times.

Now the other day

I was driving home with the same problems but then all of a sudden my speedometer starts going crazy and jumps from 60 to 55 and then to 70 all within the matter of a second or two as well as all the dash lights on.

Nothing happens to my car like stalling or anything, just these eletrical problems and they go away, nothing has been permanent yet.

time to start checking connections and such, you do have alot of electrical stuff on your car like the led turn signals, and HIDs, and then it could be time for some new brake pads if your ebrake light is coming on.

naw its not mechnical related at all. and all connections have been good, this is a re occuring problem thats not related to a loose connection. I just never really posted it until the speedo thing happened. Also on occasion if I hit a really big pothole all my eletronics reset in the car. everything from all my lights to my radar detector connected.

that sounds like a bad connection to me, if a pothole can reset all the electronics in your car...then there is something that isn't properly tied down and connected...just my opinion really...like the battery tie downs, or fuse box or something.

your tc sounds kinda like hammonds dolly sprint during the power contest. all the driving around the track gave your electricals a josiling.

Check your main grounds first. Poor grounding will play all kinds of nasty tricks on you, and if all of your electronics reset (I am guessing you mean radio, clock and all) when you hit a large bump, then it is a main connection common to all of those. If you look around, you should be able to find all of the main chasis and motor grounds. Make sure they are clean and tight.

Check any wiring and connections near and around the fuse boxes as well, and the main power connections in the car.

Obviously, check your connector on the back of the gauge cluster as well, but if other items are affected, like the clock, it will most likely be something outside of that.

But don't rule out the alternator. I've seen what you talked about in other cars and it was the alternator.

he has been around here for a while, so he may be past warranty mileage. And if he is anything like me, he will only take it in for warranty if it is expensive to repair or a very simple thing. I dont like other people working on my cars.
