Curious as to why the VSS wire is located on the HVAC..
Why is there a VSS line on the HVAC harness? I mean, it's CONVENIENT it's right there to tap into for headunits needing a VSS tap.. we lucked out on that (atleast on 06/07 models) but why is it there? There's nothing on the HVAC I can think of that would need a reading of current speed.

well.. that's just one of many vss tap loactions possible...
and for the '06+.. the extra radio plug that holds the AUX and radio control wirings.... also has a SPD wire too for the stock headunit (for ASL) (it's yellow)
but the SPD going into the HVAC.. is for the A/C compressor clutch. (it's magnetic

Ohhh yeah I forgot about the ASL in the stock units ... I hated it anyways.. And I suppose the speed wire makes sense for the compressor.. It wouldn't want to be a work horse without some momentum going on.
