These are pressure fit into the armrest and are easily removed with the hole on the bottom. The one pictured was made to fit an ipod 5g with a belkin case, but I am working on getting blueprint files/specs for other devices. They are cut using a CNC router, so they are accurate to within .01" They will be made out of MDF and painted flat black to protect them from moisture. The face is made out of a textured acrylic and laminated to the MDF. The cutout for MP3 is lined with a foam rubber for fitment and to protect the device.

The one pictured below is just an example, these can be made for different devices, different colors, and even customized if wanted. I chose the textured black acrylic because it is a good match for the interior.

If anyone is interested in one of these, has any questions, let me know. I would need to get at least 6 orders to help with start up material costs. These will start at $18 shipped first class mail, I will link to a sales thread if this gets enough interest.

Actually, I found blueprint drawings for the ipod touch, so making one wouldn't be a problem.

Sure, as long as the device is smaller than the armrest opening with enough space to fit a docking cable/audio jack one can be made. I wasn't sure if someone would want to put their phone where they couldn't see it all the time, but with bluetooth that wouldn't be a problem.

 

im interested in one I have a really old I pod. I tried to make one of these but failed miserably.

 

I like it its cool, i can get you a template for the Zune if you're willing to do it.I still have the case it came with it sat in their real snug, i also have a case for it like the one you have pictured their.

 

I'm assuming the people with Zunes use the headphone jack to connect to the stereo? It can still be used this way, I just need to know where to put the cable cutout.

Yea its the same as the ipod, head phone jack on the right and the connection cable is located at the bottom just like the ipod's.I can use either to play music & videos i have the soundgate kit so i have that option.
