i got a question....has anyone done their door panels with fiberglass???.....i wanna do it to my car but im curious about pricing........i wanna expose my front speakers and i wanted painted BSP like the car.....does anyone have any pictures or any good shops that might do this in ny????

Are you talking about making a fiberglass door from scratch or just fiberglassing over? If your just gonna fiberglass over you could do that yourself and then just sand and paint it and it be a whole lot cheaper.

 

i wanna redo just the inside panel so that my speakers are exposed ive seen it in show cars im juss wondering how much it would actully be to do this

 

right, but kurts question was do you want to mold & replace, or layup an overlay? mold and replace will be much more complex, require more equipment and be more expensive. this is only typically done with products like cf for significant weight reduction in a part.
since this is merely cosmetic, an overlay (don't think temporary stick on overlay like dashboard parts, I don't mean that) will also get you there, be easier to do on your own..but will add weight to the doors.
molds can also be used to help you make the overlay if you want it to be super perfect. start the project small.
i've had this project in the back of my head for a while, just waiting on some materials.
if you have a shop do it, i would expect to pay a lot. if they do custom fg sub enclosures, they should be able to do this for you to.

 

I'm doing it as we speak. I wont release pictures until its done tho. But yeah its gonna be pretty intense.

i am going by a rouch estimate... most shops their fiberglassing rate goes by this... its normally 65-105 and hour.. plus materials... a good shop could prolly get each door panel done in a day... then is depends on if you want it wrapped in some material... or if you want it painted... painted will always be way more expensive...

so you do the math.. oh and last i heard at unique.... their hourly fiberglassing rate was somewhere in the 275+ an hour range... which is insane...

 

doesnt that big tire guy at Unique have a tC? I believe it was a BSP tC?

 

if painted i'd say around 600-800


and depends if your doing the whole door or not.

 

yeah im thinking around 500$ for both doors and all i want is the lower mid panel where the speakers are.....so i think 500$ should cover me......painted bsp to match my car.......lets see thats in my future mods....thanx for the input.....and where the heck is this"Unique" shop???.....i live in nyc guys

firmware worx is coming out with CF and FG door panels soon (early 07) and they will offer OEM style or Audio style (with the speaker exposed).
