Default Custom Infinity Enclosure $15

Okay, so I am working on building a custom sealed box for my 10" Infinity 1052W.

I am sure this has been done before, but this is what I got so far - what do you guys think?

Took the cushion and traced an outline for the top:

Time to check measurments for cubic feet (infinity needs .75 total measurments = .74, close enough):

Bottom Measurements were about 1/2 inch narrower than Top:

Time to get cutting:

Test fit time for side walls.... (bear in mind that this is a "custom" job and that all the plans are in the brain")

This is my favorite, because I noticed at this point that I placed all the side walls in from top-to-bottom and not bottom to top..... (dough... Coors Light), easy fix though...
[/img]

Side walls fixed, time for a test

Fit is good:

Top is positioned and mounted for test fit - looking good....

Circle is drawn for proper cut:

Speaker Cut was a pain, because could not get the cut just right:

Damn, it was a close fit:

Okay, so now it looks like all is lined up and ready for sealant:

Good old Wood Glue and Caulk should do the trick:

This is the messiest part of the entire project:

Okay, now we are ready to mount the top on, cut the inlet channels, and carpet the box..... But, this is all for one day.....

I actually might need to reconsider the wood on the bottom, because I did not take into account the 1/4" lift from the speaker up top..... I will see what ti fits like once I have mounted it in......

Yeah, I posted in the other one too!

I don't think you can delete it. I am sure a mod will take care of it.

yeah you need to make a sub baffle so that the sub sits in it and thats going to be about 1/2 to 3/4 of mdf you will need. it will NOT work the only sub that will work to my knoleldge is the ED sq10 sub, it has a 3in depth so you have to go back to ground zero or raise your whole hatch floor. im working on a mdf box too and i bough the ed sq10 and i can see that any other sub will not fit

And I don't think he took the displacement of the sub into account-- his net airspace is gonna be ~.65cf, which is gonna choke that Infinity. Swap to a sub that's happy in .50cf and he's got something.

Actually Pioneer has some shallow mount subwoofers that also have a 3" mounting depth. You can also look into those.

^ There are several companies that make shallow-mount speakers, including Critical Mass, AVI, Illusion Audio, and the previously mentioned Pioneer. There was a recent thread on the topic, for anyone who might care to search.

Will post up more when I buy thicker plexi-glass....

i lot of people here are biased towards the ED sub.... it's a good sub, but not the only one that works... Pioneer makes a flat sub, and also infinity used to make flat (uniplane is what they called it) subs way back in the day, i'm sure if u look u can dine shallow mount subs elsewhere too

Okay, so after some frustration, I recut a new plexi-glass cover and rewired the setup with some 12 gage (replacing the 18 gage).

Had to do some more test-fitting:

All system is go for launch!

Here is the completed product!

And, sound is AMAZING!!!!! BETTER THAN CRAPPY SUB BOX FROM BEST BUY!
