Default In dash DVD units...I'm having install problems. Help!

I just picked up a Clarion MAX675VD in dash double din DVD unit. First off, it sits further out than the stock stereo, so the Scion cover door won't close. Is there a different set of mounting brackets you guys used for your units to get it further back or do I have to drill new holes in the stock bracket? Also, what did you use to connect the stock wiring to the new stereo? I was trying to do this myself, but I'm stuck. Figured I'd ask the pros here before dropping the car off and paying some crazy amount to get it installed.

Thanks!

You have to use the stock brackets. One setting is too far back, and the other is too far in. The resolution, is drilling a new hole on both sides to mount the dvd unit into. Just make sure that they are completely level, my unit is actually SLIGHTLY slanted to the right and nobody sees it but me, but it drives me crazy. So just drill some holes, but make plenty of measurements first. I'm using the stock brackets and the door opens and closes perfectly and it is in the exact spot that I want it.

I'm not familiar with clarion, I use eclipse which is basically made for toyota/scions, so its basically plug and play with the stock wiring

need to drill holes.. and get a wiring harness kit... metra. all toyota's use the same plug.. just hook up harness to stereo's wires.. and then plug it into the car.

For the GROUND WIRE from the stereo, do I just screw that into some metal somewhere? Also, there is a GROUND WIRE that's on the wiring harness which connected to the stereo. It's a lot shorter. Do I connect this to the matching black GROUND WIRE coming from the stereo or does it not matter if they touch? This also needs to be grounded, correct?

Thanks for the tips, guys. I got it installed.

Question: How long can I play a movie with the car off before killing the battery? I had my interior lights on (LEDs) and the radio playing for about half an hour, while adjusting the settings. Then I played a movie for about half an hour. I went to start up and my car wouldn't start. It did before, so I know I didn't ____ anything up. I think I drained the battery, though. How long do batteries usually last? Was it already on the way out or do these screens really eat juice?

soooooooo, im looking for a new HU, and i'm looking at the pioneer Avic d2, or d3, but i don't like how the d3 doesn't flip down, and has a smaller screen. i was wondering what HU's are completely plug-n-play, and work with the steering wheel controls withought having to buy extra stuff? and hopefully with NAV and DVD capabilities...
thanks

^eclipse, but there are modules that allow you to retain wheel controls with other brands.
