so i was an idiot and got the scosche toyota dash kit to install me new alpine HU. SHortly thereafter, i noticed a rattling sound. After some careful diagnosing, i determined that the rattling was actually coming from the dash kit/HU housing itself.

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this...AND... Does anyone have the METRA kit? I just ordered one and i'm hoping it doesn't have the same annoying rattle.

PS. I took the sliding stereo cover door off cuz it squeaked like crazy too.

My Eclipse's trim ring rattles...annoying

 

you know, i guess its possible that its the trim ring, i didn't think of that. Either way, the MEtra kit is nicer...and i have a CD stuck in the stock HU still, so i wanna plug that baby in real quik when i swap kits.

Rattles are just REAL annoying though, especially in the close quarters of a car. Either that, or i have OCD. its like somebody scratching a chalkboard with their fingernails...

 

HAHAH...you know....I've got a CD in my stock CD player I'm pretty sure. Downside is the face is disassembled and the buttons fell out...so I can't really eject it

 

well for the radio door squeek i can help yall with, but with the HU trim IDK about that? mine seems to be fine?

i was going nuts untill this came up! Seriously its was the most annoying squeek ever! This worked for me!

 

I can vouch for this method. I went on a road trip to South Carolina not long ago, and was going CRAZY from the squeek. Now I just have to find a solution that works for the rest of the rattles...

 

well, once i had the dash kit and HU in, i couldn't fit the stereo cover back on anyway..but i may try again when i swap. thanks!

did you just take off the console and see if it rattled and thats how you knew it was the kit? i should try that. i tried the mod in that thread and it did nothing for me... its a rattle not a squeak that i have and SO ANNOYING

 

ay! i just spent the last 35 mins in my work parking lot taking things apart and tapping things... and its the right **** on my pioneer head unit that's rattling!!! can you believe that... the spring on the left already broke off, and my wheel controls dont work w/ it... looks like ill have another HU comin
