Well..supposedly I'm finally getting my refund. I'll keep you posted on that one...

thanks __________, I completely hacked the **** out of a brand new Scion key to get the transponder out for this project. All it took was to send me a damn replacement button!!

Semi related question. I bought a Toyota (looks like my 06 tC key, just black and has a Toyota symbol) 3 button remote key from ebay. I had it cut at Home Depot and took the transponder out. I haven't taken the transponder out of my old key yet since I'm not at home, but, I've tried to start my car with the new key while having the old key in the car just to see if it'll work but it won't turn over. Any idea why this may be? The only real difference between the keys is that the new one doesn't have that small dot on the blade.

^ as Nickifer asked, did you hold the old key close to the ignition?
The transponder from the old key has to be really close to the receiver for it to roll over.

got my key from __________ last week and took it to the dealer to get it cut to my VIN... they end up cutting it wrong and i took it back since the key wouldnt turn to the start in the ignition...they ran it through again and it still didnt work... i take it to the local locksmith and he fixes the problem in less than 5 minutes!

so much for trusting the dealership on getting a key cut....

It's the key case, the cover, the blank, the everything except your transponder.

Why wait its literally $20. I love my key and get TONS of compliments on it. I work in construction and my key gets tossed around in my tool box and work truck and its still like new.
