yes, i had the exact same problem where my stereo would just skip cd tracks or radio stations mysteriously. After 2 months of arguing with the dealership that the problem existed, i called scion. Again, after about a month they said that some of the stereos were defective and they replaced it no charge. I would suggest going to the dealer first and then calling scion if they refuse to replace it.

Every once in a while (once a week?) mine will change radio stations for no reason at all, and not to another preset, but just some random station or space in between. Don't recall any issue with CDs, and since that's what I mainly listen to, it's not enough of a problem for me to do anything about it.

might as well get a new one if its covered on the waranty. You never know if the problem won't get worse.

for the one that the radio changes stations on its own. There is a service bulletin for that, there are updated radios available, Pioneer fixed the problem in the updated units. The Toyota TSB number is AX002-06 or AX002-06R (revised)

About the other problem, sounds like the internal processor has an issue with keeping up. Definitely get it replaced as it's NOT normal. If the dealer you're working with won't do it, go to another dealer. Different dealers have different "rules" that apply to warranty work. Check around til you get it replaced.

yes, happens often with my mp3 CDs. When skipping through songs quickly, it'll show the title of the last song while playing the next one (or next few ones). But whatever, I just ignore it.

yes that's a common problem with the 05 HU. They had issue with the CD loading mechanism

Yes that's the problem I was talking about with the TSB (technical service bulletin). If she wants it replaced, all she has to do is ask the dealer to get the updated radio and install it.
