Default door annoyance

I'm glad the TC has heavy doors, but its so heavy that it just swings out and the "handle" on the door is so close to where the hinges are that it doesn't help much. most of the cars i've driven in the past have had that little pocket on the door to put your hand in to help you open/close it...

my question is, is there any modification anyone has done to do this? i'm sure most people would agree wiht me on this. thank you for any help.

I am not sure exactly what you are asking about... you don't like to open the car door with just the handle? I like the handle.

I know what you're talking about, but no, I haven't seen anyone mod what's effectively the armrest on the door, such that you can grab it further back where there's more leverage.

the handle isn't enough? It's pretty long and you can grip it lower down if you want to exert more torque

Seriously?

Maybe you should go get a gym membership or something.

OH... you're talking about the armrest, or the handle INSIDE the car... no, I haven't seen anything either. Sorry.

yes, i'm talking about a little pocket thing INSIDE the car. rite now there is just an empty space to rest your arm on...like so...

see the empty arm space on the door?

sorry these aren't my pix, but you get the idea.

I'm pretty sure I open and close my door where the window runs into the edge of the door. It works well.

ehhh.. those pockets are usually useless and take away from the cleanliness.

i wouldn't be part of the "most people" that you said would agree with you..

i'm with the... go to gym comment as well as just grabbing the top of the door if you really need that leverage.

umm, it's not an issue of strength...it's just an issue of leverage. you have more leverage the farther you get from the pivot point. i just believe the inside door handle is too close to the pivot point that it doesn't provide enough leverage for when you need to "hold" the door open when you are parked tightly so that it doesn't swing out and hit the adjacent car.

and just for the record, i play sports, workout, and breakdance...my hand/arm strength is sufficient, no need for petty insults.

Well, if you lack the leverage to make it easier the you have to work harder. More leverage requires less work. So it is kinda about strength.

But anyway, the door hinge has a stopping point at about half way to full open. Maybe you should just gently open the door (using your sports, workout, and breakdance arm) and allow it to catch in that spot. Or use the top like others have said.
