Default Door speaker replacement.

I've got about $100 dollars on a Bestbuy gift card and would like to replace the front door speakers. It looks like my only 3 options are:

Rockford Fosgate - Punch 6-1/2" 3-Way Car Speakers
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1170289781042

Infinity - 6-1/2" 2-Way Car Speakers with Plus One Cones
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1166234894507

Alpine - Type-S 6-1/2" 2-Way Car Speakers with Polypropylene Cones
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1134701298137

I was leaning towards the Infinity just based off what I have heard about them in the past, but figured I would ask here.

To power them I am going to take out the stock HU and put in my old Eclipse 5423. I'm not sure what the rms is on the speaker outputs are, but I think its around 25 rms per channel. I wanted to know if I could run the right rear to the right door along w/ the right front, and do the same for the left side to give them 2x the HU's RMS?

I don't need the rear speakers and would prefer having just the front sound.

Thanks.

no, do not bridge your HU's outputs. not a good idea at all. if you want to get loud get an amp.

out of those choices i'd say get the alpines. but honestly i personally wouldn't get any of those choices.

infinity's have no bass and are too harsh in the highs, but that is just my opinion. What you need to do is go down and listen to all three. Pick whichever you think sounds best to you.

Just curious but why cant you bridge the outputs? If the HU plays in stereo and I only need 2 channels it would seem that you should be able to. If you can't thats fine and I won't it just seemed to make sense that you should be able to.

Anyway, I can't afford to get an amp for the speakers right now. And I know I could get these speakers for less, or get more for my money from someplace else, but its my only option right now.

because when you bridge the HU's internal amp you cause it to run hotter and it's just not good in any way. i have done it, but i don't recommend it. i did it in an old install i really didn't care about using all cheap ___ **** that i didn't care about in a vehicle i didn't care about.

Trade that gift card for cash with a friend and buy elsewhere. Go on ebay, for $87 shipped, pick up some Phoenix Gold RSd components, you can't go wrong.

Or if anything from best buy, go Polk.

Glad to hear that, as your SQ will be much better w/o using the rear speakers.

As for bridging the front & rear channels of the HU, it depends on the specific model, as some were designed to do that with no ill effects. Check your owner's manual, because if this is an option for your particular HU, they'll discuss it there. If they don't mention it as an option specifically, then don't try it, as doing so can blow the amp in some HU's that weren't designed for it. It really comes down to how the HU's amp is designed, usually depending on whether it's 4 descrete channels, or just two channels of amplification with a fader dividing the power front to rear. With the latter design it's usually safe to 'bridge' front & rear channels, provided the load isn't lower than 4 Ohms. Keep that in mind with the Infinity's, as there could be an issue if you bridge the channels and are using one of their 2 Ohm component sets.
