Default Driver Side Window Track....

So I bought my used tC back in 2008...no warranty ...and been recently having problems with my driver side window. Everytime you lower it below the halfway point..the glass falls off the tracks. I got it checked out by a glass place and in the process they shattered my window. They paid for the glass and showed me that i needed a new regulator, which i got. Everything got fixed about a month ago and now its happening again. I'm currently at the dealership getting an estimate on the front window track. Has anybody else had this problem and how much did you end up paying? What are my other options? Thanks

my friend had some issues with his track.. ended up drilling out the speaker to get enough room to access inside the door panel.. and took some tools and brute strength... bent the sucker back into place.

problem solved.

Nice, good to know. Im still at the dealership..they have described my door as being "mangled", the car might have been in a serious accident. They say i need a whole new door......painted and everything about $1800. If i cant bend the track back in place im thinking of trading in for another tC as I am almost stock and wouldnt mind switching out parts....

i did you see the new track that was installed by the glass place? maybe it was the wrong part or bad quality.

if the car was in an accident before it may be a good idea to take it to a bodyshop and have them fix it correctly. Not all dealerships can do body. If they have to send your car out to get fixed then that may explain the high price.

my cr-v was in an accident. one dealership quoted 5K which the insurance wouldnt cover. another dealership quoted 3500 bc they have their own honda body shop. big difference in cost.

you might want to ask another dealership or look around for a good body shop

good luck

yea the new regulator i bought myself and brought it to them....I looked at everything afterwards too...the tracks are really bent and there is about 40 drill holes by the tracks no lie. Theres patched of God knows what and everything is messed up. Im thinking of just trading in the tC for another tC ...Ill try the various body shops thought! Thank you again

^^ depending on what else the body shop informs you of, of damage that you didn't know about. it might be worth it to dump that one and get another tC. Makes ya wonder what they did to that car, they didn't tell you about. Sorry bro, that really sucks. hope you can get it all worked out

I went to various places...and all of them say that there is about 15-20 drilled holes in my door for no reason. Even if i were to get a new track there wouldnt be a place to put it in because everything is drilled out....the door needs to be replaced and so on. I've decided to sell the car....I went out looking and saw 3 cars i liked...i need opinions. My limit is $15000 as this will only be my second car and I have my first year of college ahead of me. I offcourse saw another tC...2006 50k miles for $12000. 2005 Mazda 6 49k miles for $12495 and a 2006 Accord coupe v6 for $14000 with 20k.....help ! and thanks again

yeah bro, i think it's a smart idea to dump that car, ya never know what ELSE happened to it. ouch.

You might want to do an internet search on the Accord because I remember something about transmission troubles on those mid 2000( like 04-06) Accords.

The mazda 6 also, do a tsb search on it, just so you know if there is some big problem that no one paid attention to.

The 06 tC the only recalls were the side airbag sensor in the door (if it had the side airbags, they were optional in 06), radio would change stations on its own, and I think there was a change on the part numbers for the door handle inside one. Just did a quick search of tsb's (technical service bulletins).

That's my advice on how i'd go about it. Oh and take the carfax report with a little skepticism. I once had a carfax on my old car, it was reported that the car was in a major accident and the car was totalled. None of which was true, I called carfax and told them that they need to get their facts straight, they did straighten it out, but I'm just telling you that you can only believe the data so far. definitely get a body shop and a good mechanic to check out whatever you're going to buy. You already learned the lesson the hard way, this time. good luck!

So out of all the cars mentioned...offcourse i got none . Accord was too pricey, mazda 6 was sold and the tC was not there. A used evo around here goes for $24000, my limit was about $15000. I believe i found a good deal thought. I got a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S with 20000miles with a 100,000 warranty for $13000. Nothing fancy but I'm sure it will last me a good amount of time
