Eclipse 2007 NAV Update*UPDATED*
I just tried searching the torrents for you all. I would need more details on the disk (like a picture), but I don't think it would really help any.
It's hella hard to find... doesn't look like anyone's willing to torrent it. However, I found updates for things like Audi GPS systems, which doesn't help you guys at all. Sorry, but I tried.
Here's an idea:
How about you all pitch in and one person buys one, then uploads a torrent or sends it directly to everyone else? Preferably whoever has access to a form of internet with large upload speed and capacity (like someone with free access to a university server or something).
Wouldn't that work? I just don't think its widespread enough (at least among enough internet savvy folks) for it to ever show up as a torrent or newsgroup.
Actually, one of you could just put it up on a newsgroup, so no bandwidth problems anymore. The problem with torrents is that I know most of the people here will just leech it, and once its finished, will stop seeding it, screwing everyone else.
Or you could upload it to something like Rapidshare.de
However, at $390 a pop, you'd need at least 39 people to get a $10 per person price going...

I am interested in getting this update. There is no freakin way I am going to pay over $300 though. Eclipse is good stuff....but they are WAY too proud of themselves. I wish that Eclipse would update their firmware to allow more functionality. It would be nice to change wallpapers (other than the spash-screen). Also, I wonder if there is a hardware issue that prevents them from writin a firmware update that makes the AVN5500 work with the ipod. Eclipse says that the 5500 will work with the ipod...but have you tried it? It sucks! My AVN6600 is way better than my 5500. It should only take a bit of software updating to help the 5500 along.
I tried to make a BU copy of my AVN6600 disc but had no luck. I copied the disc to a dual-layer DVD. When I explored the copy and the original, both were identical in size and files. However, when I tried the copy in my AVN6600 it would not work. ANy advice?
Is anyone willing to talk about the update disc?

I copied my dvd navigation disc b/c I was afraid of losing it or it breaking, etc. Seeing as they are so expensive, I burnt myself an extra copy. That is for the version 1.4. They are definitely burnable.
Speddlysmitt, where did you get yours and for how much?

I think I used nero express but it has been a while. If you used Nero though, I am gonna buy the full Nero program and try again. It just gets expensive to waste dual layer dvd's.
Could you tell me what type of dl media you used? Brand, +/-, etc.......
Thanks-a-Million

I actually didn't even buy the full version of NERO, I just downloaded the trial and it worked great. As for the DVDs I think I used Memorex DL+ DVDs. Yep thats them. Hope this helps out. If not let me know and I can make you a B/U of my disc and send it to you to help out. I got the 6600 as well.
I found a copy in ebay, $30 shipped but its great, its twice as fast to navigate MP3, sirius has more features, craploads of more POI's. Welcome screen change worked great! Zoom even has more settings. Great Buy def worth it!
